Pinchen is a local name in Market Lavington and the surrounding area so it was no surprise when the curator was asked for information by a genealogist about members of this family.
One item that the museum had was this photo.
Many a time, people have not recorded photos well but this particular image has the people named. They are standing in front of their premises on The Clays in Market Lavington and the occupation of members of the family is made clear in the photo.
The photo was taken in 1887 and shows three generations of the family. Here’s the documentation that goes with the photo – a wonderful example!
For the record, the building still stands and looks much the same, although it is no longer under an iron roof.
