Cubs go camping

As we work our way through a February, which has brought snow, low temperatures and travel disruption, let’s remind ourselves of a more summery activity from the days of yore. Today we feature a photo from Coronation year, 1953, so it was 59 years ago. It shows cubs and adults boarding a coach to go off on their summer camp.

Most of the people in this photo are named but we’d like to know who two of the cubs are.

From left to right the cubs are: unknown, Cyril Hayward, Colin Little, Tim Gye, Barry Oram, Jimmy Steele, unknown and Cyril Cooper.

The three adults are Don Baker, Jean Potter and Fran Francis. It was Jean who gave Market Lavington Museum this photo back in 2002.

No doubt a bus and coach enthusiast can enlighten us as to the type of coach and, possibly, who the operator was.
