The Old Rustic Bridge

Here we have a Burgess postcard showing Wick Lane.

Wick Lane, Market Lavington and a rustic bridge. The photo dates from 1914.

Wick Lane is in Market Lavington, but well away from the village centre so people may not be able to locate this image.

Wick Lane is the path (green dashes) which runs past Wick Farm.

Our photo of the rustic bridge dates from 1914 and it has entirely vanished. In fact we do not know just where it was. Perhaps a reader can help us with that.

  1. Pete Says:

Heading east along Wick Lane, just past the farm, a footpath branches off on the right. You have to go up quite a steep bank before passing over a style into a field (at least you did nearly 20 years ago when I was last there). Perhaps the bridge was a continuation of that path over the lane? Should be easy to get a ‘then and now’ photo if so.

Can you add anything to this or do you want to know more?
