The Fishing Cottage

The Market Lavington Manor estate was large and had many more buildings than just the Manor House itself. Not all of the properties that the estate owned were actually in Market Lavington. Properties were owned in other nearby parishes but this one sits on the Littleton Panell edge of the stream which divides West from Market Lavington. It is known as the Fishing Cottage.

What a delightfully quaint cottage set in the Manor grounds. No doubt, in those Victorian days of Edward Pleydell Bouverie, visiting young bloods enjoyed a spot of fishing on the premises. Whether they stayed in the cottage or whether it was lived in by a river keeper we do not know.

But we do know this is still a lovely and well hidden building. Many local folks will not know of its existence for there is no public access to it.
