A metal hat box

We have recently looked at A well travelled hat box, but that is not the only one we have at Market Lavington Museum.

This one is a metal container, which has been painted to resemble wood grain.

We believe it dates from the early 20th century and that it was probably used to store a gentleman’s top hat.

It is 24 cm high with a circumference of about 91cm.

Can you add anything to this or do you want to know more?
