Clyffe Hall in 1985

We have often featured this large and elegant house on the road from Market Lavington towards West Lavington in our blogs. Some of our entries record it in earlier times, when it was a family home, and some relate to its function as an hotel, run by Stewart and Barbara Reynolds from about the time of the second world war. (Type Clyffe Hall in the search box on the front page of our blog at and you will find twenty links.)

In one of the museum’s scrapbooks of newscuttings, we see that the hotel there was re-opening under new management and was the subject of an article in the Wiltshire Gazette and Herald of 21st February 1985.

Clyffe Hall ceased to be an hotel many years ago now and has reverted to being a private residence.
