School photos – 1950s and 60s

In our museum collection, we have a school photograph album dating from the 1950s and 60s. This was Market Lavington Voluntary Controlled (by the Church of England) School, in the Victorian building on Church Street, which we now call the Old School.

It gives a list of previous headteachers, ending with Mr Pickering, who was head at the time the album was put together.

Amongst the pictures are those of a school float in West Lavington Carnival, which you can see in A Happy New Year. There are also photos of a school play, Rumpelstiltskin, which was performed in 1963.
