We know that in 1971, Market Lavington’s Darby and Joan Club won A Quilt Award and that we displayed their prize winning handicraft On the settle for 2016.
As we prepare for our 2023 opening season, we decided it was time to feature this lovely piece of work again and to have a closer look at it here.
It is a striking item when seen from a distance and a close up view shows just how much work was involved in stitching all the hexagons together.
A large group of sewers were involved and their labours are credited on the reverse of the quilt.
